GeneCraft Labs held a seminar titled How Qiagen Can Help Your Research at Ciputra World Surabaya Hotel on Tuesday, April 4th, 2019 and at Grand Keisha Hotel by Horison Yogyakarta on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019. Collaborated with Qiagen, this time we invited Jeffrey Koh, MSc, a Market Development Manager, Southeast Asia of Qiagen as the speaker.
In accordance with Qiagen’s vision, Making Improvements in Life Possible, both real-time or quantitative PCR (qPCR), High Resolution Melting (HRM), or even sequencing with pyrosequencing from Qiagen is very helpful in molecular biology research involving DNA base sequencing activities. With real-time PCR, the DNA amplification process itself can be clearly seen and real time through the primary probe used as the indicator. This can make the PCR results that are done to be faster, more efficient, sensitive, and it is expected that there will be no false positives in existing samples. After that, it was also explained that HRM works quickly and accurately in viewing and analyzing variations in DNA sequences from melting points. HRM technology in the Qiagen real-time machine, Rotor-Gene Q, is very capable of analyzing Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) because it is not only supported by existing software, but also from the hardware of the machine itself. Therefore, Rotor-Gene Q is very suitable for the genetic analysis process, because it can double as qPCR or HRM (specifically the HRM priority-red series) so that the process is not only fast, but also has high accuracy. Finally, by performing the pyrosequencing stage using PyroMark Q48 Autoprep, sequencing DNA becomes easier thanks to automation technology which will certainly require fewer manual interactions. This type is the latest type of sequencing released by Qiagen as a form of old type refinement, Pyromark Q24. With this new type, the throughput produced per process is doubled from the previous one which only consisted of 24 samples.
This seminar also presented testimonial session by two GeneCraft Labs customers. Both of them gave positive feedbacks toward Qiagen products they had been used because those products truly suit their research needs and are really easy to use. There were 100 participants came and were excited listening to reviews from both customers. When the discussion session was opened, they were also really enthusiastic to participate. To the participants who were active during the seminar, GeneCraft Labs gave interesting souvenirs as a form of appreciation.
