QIAprep&amp Viral RNA UM Kit – QIAGEN

Description

The QIAprep&amp Viral RNA UM Kit is an innovative liquid-based approach to viral RNA epidemiology. The kit is optimized for ultrafast sample preparation and sensitive real-time PCR detection of enveloped RNA viruses such as coronaviruses from human samples (nasal, oro- and nasopharyngeal swabs) collected in non-fixation transport media like UTM, VTM, PBS, 0.9% NaCl, Virocult, and eSwab. Fewer and simpler workflow steps accelerate the turnaround time and increase testing frequency while decreasing plastic usage, cost, and hands-on time. The method can be seamlessly integrated into automated workflows with standard lab equipment at all throughput needs.

Debottlenecking SARS-CoV-2 detection for rapid high-frequency epidemiological research

As COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus continues to accelerate worldwide, epidemiological research faces an unprecedented demand for testing to identify the source, monitor and track the disease and ultimately develop guidance for actions to lessen its impact. To meet this demand, laboratories need an approach that enables rapid and high-frequency detection and seamlessly integrates into existing automated workflows with standard lab equipment at all throughput needs.

The QIAprep&amp Viral RNA UM Kit combines an innovative liquid-based sample preparation step completed in only two minutes with a one-step RT-qPCR in a single end-to-end procedure to deliver results under one hour.

Fast and high-frequency SARS-CoV-2 detection made possible

The kit is optimized for ultrafast sample preparation and reliable and sensitive real-time PCR detection of enveloped RNA viruses such as coronavirus from human samples (nasal, oro- and nasopharyngeal swabs) collected in non-fixation transport media like UTM, VTM, PBS, 0.9% NaCl, Virocult and eSwab. The simplified workflow takes under one hour from start to finish. It encompasses an optional heat-treatment step and only three pipetting steps that can be conducted directly in the PCR vessels, decreasing hands-on time and plastic use. While the PCR setup can be automated using any liquid handler, the three-step pipetting also offers the flexibility for fast and convenient manual setup to the laboratories in a resource-limited setting.

High process safety and confident insights
A sampling control ensures no RNA degradation and an inhibition control confirms no PCR inhibition

High performance
Limit of detection of 8 copies/reaction offers sensitive detection of the virus

High throughput
Simplicity and speed enable processing of up to 2600 samples per cycler per eight-hour shift (if using an automated liquid handler)
